“Dave’s demonstrated track record of exemplary client services and leadership will continue to propel our Carolinas practice forward,” said Rick Gebert, Grant Thornton’s Southeast region managing partner. “Dave will play a key role in helping Grant Thornton achieve our goal to be the leading audit, tax and advisory firm, serving dynamic organizations in our chosen markets.”

“I am excited to take on leadership for the Carolinas marketplace as we prepare to enter a new growth phase,” said Wedding. “I look forward to working with my partners and colleagues to provide premier audit, tax and advisory services that help our clients grow as our firm grows.”

Wedding succeeds Brad Gabosch, who will be retiring in 2013 and has been with Grant Thornton since it entered the Carolinas in 2002.

“We are grateful for Brad’s remarkable contributions to Grant Thornton, which resulted in growth for our Carolinas practice into one of the largest and most profitable geographies for the firm,” said Mike McGuire, Grant Thornton’s Charlotte-based national managing partner of Markets, Industries, People & Culture. “Brad has been a strong leader who helped shape the Carolinas practice and create a strong foundation for the future leaders of our firm.”

“My predecessor Brad Gabosch has been a true mentor and friend who created a strong foundation for our Carolinas practice,” added Wedding. “I am excited to build on that success as we look forward to the future of our firm.”

As a recognized leader among his peers, Wedding was elected to Grant Thornton’s 10-person Partnership Board for a three-year term earlier this year.

With a long history in public accounting, Wedding joined Grant Thornton in 2005 as a partner in the Advisory Services practice and currently serves as the firm’s Southeast region Forensic and Valuation Services practice leader. Prior to joining Grant Thornton, he was a partner with Deloitte and spent 21 years in the Audit and Assurance practice with Arthur Andersen.

As a Charlotte native, Wedding has been involved in the local market in numerous roles during the years. Currently, Wedding serves on the board of the Belk College of Business at the University of North Carolina – Charlotte and is a member of Forest Hill Church.

Wedding received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and holds a master’s in business administration from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He also is a certified public accountant, a certified fraud examiner and is certified in financial forensics.
