Questionmark(TM) today announced that eLearning standards expert Tom King has joined the company, taking on the role of Interoperability Evangelist.
King is working with specification and standards organizations to help streamline integrations for Questionmark and its customers. He is also speaking at tradeshows and conferences and supporting standards-related activities for customers and partners.
King, an experienced technical advisor, consultant and presenter on corporate eLearning, is actively involved with many eLearning technology specification groups. These include ADL SCORM, AICC, IEEE LTSC, IMS, LETSI and others. He serves as Aviation Industry Computer-based Training Committee (AICC) Communications Chairman and workgroup leader for the PENS specification. With Questionmark, the scope of his work is expected to include broader interoperability standards through organizations such as HR-XML and OASIS. A longtime AICC advocate, King was instrumental, along with many colleagues, in early implementations of LMS specifications. He founded Solis, originator of the Pathware learning management system (acquired by Macromedia and later transferred to IBM as LearningSpace 4).
King holds a master’s degree in Instructional Design and has been involved in eLearning content development projects for Accenture, Adobe, American Airlines, Authorware, Bechtel, Boeing, Lotus/IBM, Macromedia, Sprint and many other organizations.
“Tom’s experience and ability to harmonize what’s possible with what is needed has impressed me for years,” said Questionmark CEO Eric Shepherd. “Tom’s appointment reflects Questionmark’s longstanding support for open and industry standards, and we are excited to have him aboard.”
The company’s Questionmark Perception(TM) assessment management system was the first assessment system to achieve the AICC standard, and Shepherd was instrumental in the development of the IMS Learning Consortium’s Question and Test Interoperability standard.
