DRAYTON VALLEY, ALBERTA–(Marketwire – Dec. 6, 2012) – The BioComposites Group (BCG) signed a sales agency agreement with Techstyles Inc., a leading automotive manufacturer’s representative based in Bingham Farms, Michigan.
BCG will be manufacturing auto parts that are designed to replace traditional fiberglass auto parts, with lighter natural fibres such as wood, flax and/or hemp resulting in better vehicle fuel efficiency, and sound-dampening qualities. “We are excited about partnering with Techstyles. Their team’s connections across the automotive value chain are ideal for bringing our innovative natural fiber mats to the North American automotive industry,” said Dan Madlung, CEO of BCG.
Techstyles has operated as a manufacturer’s representative for over 30 years specializing in automotive interior applications. “The price volatility of petroleum based products and the auto industry’s shift towards lightweight and environmentally friendly parts make BCG products a perfect fit for our portfolio,” said Bill Vaughn, CEO of Techstyles. Techstyles continues to promote new technologies with particular emphasis on “green” applications in automotive interiors.
Techstyles will focus on the BCG product line targeted at automotive applications. The products will be marketed under the Fiber510(TM) brand and include applications such as load floors, package decks, interior door panels, seat backs, and spare tire covers.
BCG plant is scheduled to start manufacturing lightweight mats for automotive parts next summer. It is the first commercial spin-off company from TTS’s incubator facility based in Edmonton, AB. With the successful commercialization of engineered fibre mats, TTS is working towards the commercial roll out of its other sustainable green products and technologies.
