The Honourable Bernard Valcourt, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development and Member of Parliament (Madawaska-Restigouche), took part today in the opening of the 5th Congres mondial acadien (CMA), on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.
This ceremony launches two weeks of social and cultural activities, shows, conferences, thematic meetings and family reunions.
The CMA 2014 is taking place until August 24 in Acadia of the Lands and Forests-the territory ranging from northwestern New Brunswick to Temiscouata in Quebec and to the northern part of Maine in the United-States. The Government of Canada supports this major event that brings significant social, cultural and economic benefits to the whole region.
